What?

FIAT is an acronym meaning “Faith Institutions Advancing Transformation”. The FIAT Project is a research initiative organized with The King’s University in Edmonton, AB (Canada), which does both empirical and theoretical research in the field of socio-ecological transformations and the ability for faith institutions (with a Christian focus) to facilitate these transformations

The project was formed by Canada Research Chair Dr. Adrian E. Beling in 2022 under the name CRCT2S. Along with Dr. Beling, the FIAT project currently hosts a growing team consisting of undergrad, graduate, and PHD students from The King’s University, The University of Alberta, and abroad (find out more on the team page). Past and present team members come from a wide range of disciplinary backgrounds, such as psychology, environmental studies, theology, and sociology. The project accepts graduate and undergraduate students from any range of disciplinary backgrounds who display a passion for sustainability research, the ability to think and reason about complex issues surrounding social-ecological sustainability, and a proficiency/background in basic methods of academic research.
